The present invention relates to a Cla009870 marker gene containing a U-box domain for diagnosis of gummy stem blight of watermelon; and uses of the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a composition, a kit, and a diagnostic method for diagnosing the gummy stem blight of watermelon, by exploiting the phenomenon that when a watermelon sensitive to the gummy stem blight is infected with the gummy stem blight, the expression level of the gene encoding a protein represented by an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1 decreases with respect to a normal control group; and a method of determining resistance or sensitivity to gummy stem blight of watermelon. By using the composition, the kit, or the diagnostic method of the present invention, the watermelon sensitive to the gummy stem blight and infected with the gummy stem blight can be accurately diagnosed in a simple and rapid manner. Especially, the present invention allows the diagnosis to be made even when a relatively short period of time has passed after exposure to the gummy stem blight, and thus enables to manage the gummy stem blight promptly; and enables the diagnosis to be made distinctively apart from the infections of other pathogens such as anthracnose. Also, the diagnostic method of the present invention may be used to efficiently select watermelons with resistance to the gummy stem blight, and thus may be extremely useful when developing new cultivars of watermelons.
