The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) yarn having high strength and excellent strength utilization rate and, more specifically, to a method for manufacturing a PET (high modulus low shrinkage (HMLS)) yarn having excellent strength utilization rate by using a six-stage drawn Godet roller to make adjustments such that the speed of a one-stage drawn Godet roller satisfies 2,000 to 3,000 m/min, the speed of a five-stage drawn Godet roller satisfies the range of 6,000 to 7,000 m/min, and the distribution ratio of one-stage, two-stage, and three-stage drawn Godet rollers is 51% or more of the total distribution ratio.
