MANAGEMENT OF ETHANOL CONCENTRATION DURING SYNGAS FERMENTATION

A method for managing the ethanol concentration during synthesis gas fermentation is provided. A method for syngas fermentation comprises inoculating the medium to provide an inoculum medium. The inoculation medium is contacted with the syngas, the cells and medium are removed and separated to provide concentrated cells and permeate. Ethanol is separated from the permeate to provide an ethanol and ethanol reduced aqueous stream. The ethanol-reduced aqueous stream returns to the fermentation product.
