The present invention provides a treadmill controlled by the sound and image and a treadmill control method. The user′s voice and the image of the user′s mouth are used to authenticate the user′s command and the treadmill operates according to the command passing the authentication such that the treadmill is not influenced by the command of the neighboring user. By using the image of the user′s body, the speed of a running belt is automatically adjusted to prevent accidents which can occur when a user cannot directly adjust speed. The treadmill controlled by the sound and image comprises: a main body including a running belt on which a user walks or runs and a driving device which controls the operation of the running belt according to a driving command; and a control panel generating the driving command and including a plurality of microphones and a signal processing unit.
