The present invention relates to a lactobacillus fermentum LM1016 strain (KFCC11756P), and a composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases or metabolic diseases comprising the same. More specifically, the lactobacillus fermentum LM1016 strain of the present invention alleviates cell damage and growth inhibition caused by fine dust in human hepatic cell lines (HepG2 cell) and reduces reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cell lines. In addition, the present invention recovers a level of SOD (peroxide removing enzymes) to normal and increases activation of HO-1 (Heme lyase) to reduce stress. Moreover, when a diesel exhaust particulate matter (DEPM), a standard matter of fine dust, is injected to a mouse model, the present invention reduces generation of inflammatory cytokine TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1ß increased in blood. In addition, the present invention reduces levels of liver enzyme AST and ALT in blood increased by fine dust, and accordingly, prevents and treats liver cell damage or inflammation by fine dust.
