SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR READER'S CONVENIENCE USING SPEECH BALLOON

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a system and a method for providing convenience to a reader using speech bubbles of a webtoon, which recognize and store text included in a speech bubble, use the same in a search, and adjust reading speed, thereby providing convenience to a user. To this end, the present invention provides the method for providing convenience to a reader using speech bubbles of a webtoon. The method comprises the steps of: (a) allowing a speech balloon recognition module to recognize speech balloons and calculate the number of the speech balloons; (b) allowing a coordinate calculation module to calculate the point coordinates of a left uppermost corner of a rectangular area occupied by the speech bubble and store the coordinates in a database; (c) allowing a character recognition module to recognize characters only in the rectangular area occupied by the speech balloon; and (d) allowing a data storage module to store a character string recognized through the character recognition in a database (DB) together with the point coordinates of the speech bubble. According to the present invention, when the reader does not remember the title and episode of a webtoon that the reader has read, but can remember any one word of the conversation, the reader can find, through a key word, the exact title of the webtoon and the position of the speech bubble.
