FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: present group of inventions relates to medicine, namely to oncology, and concerns the treatment of cancer. For this purpose, cancer patients who are deficient in the isomer of the enzyme N-myristoyltransferase 2 (NMT2) are identified. Treatment of this group of patients is carried out by administering an NMT inhibitor or NMT1 isoenzyme.;EFFECT: this provides an increase in the effectiveness of treatment of this group of patients, since cancer deficient in NMT2 is most sensitive to treatment with NMT inhibitors.;16 cl, 8 tbl, 38 ex, 42 dwg
