FIELD: metallurgy.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to chemical-thermal treatment of surface of articles from titanium alloys, and can be used in production of parts of engines operating in wear conditions, in medicine and other industries. Method of low-temperature ion nitriding of items from titanium alloys includes supply to vacuum chamber with said products of plasma-forming gas mixture containing nitrogen and argon. Nitriding is carried out in a glow discharge at temperature of 400–450 °C with constant pumping, at which argon is pumped from vacuum chamber and said gas mixture is simultaneously fed thereto to maintain pressure of 300 Pa. Gas mixture is supplied as the above gas mix containing 20 wt% nitrogen and 80 wt% argon.;EFFECT: higher efficiency of low-temperature ion nitriding of titanium alloys.;1 cl, 2 dwg, 1 ex
