FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurements in thermophysics, in particular to methods for determining integral coefficient of radiation of surface of solid materials, and can be used in measuring integral radiation coefficient of heat-shielding materials. Method involves temperature measurement of pre-heated cylindrical sample of solid material, end surfaces of which are coated with foil with high coefficient of reflection, during its cooling in vacuum. Sample is preliminarily introduced into a heater made in the form of a hollow cylinder coaxial with the sample with an electrospieled filament on its outer surface and placed in the upper part of the vacuumised chamber with darkened walls. After heating the sample, it is removed from the heater and the temperature of the sample is measured during cooling with two thermocouples placed on the symmetry axis of the sample and on its side surface. Heating of the sample is carried out to temperature of its side surface of not less than 500 K. Integral radiation coefficient is determined from the solution of the inverse heat conduction problem.;EFFECT: high accuracy of determining an integral emissivity coefficient and shorter measurement time owing to heating of the sample directly in the vacuum chamber, and high information content of measurements by placing an additional thermocouple.;1 cl, 4 dwg, 1 tbl
