FIELD: fire safety.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of extinguishing large combustion areas of flammable and flammable liquids stored in capacitance storages and tanks. Essence of the claimed method consists in the fact that in the method for fire protection of tanks for storage of liquid combustibles, which includes creation of a heat-insulating layer of porous spherical granules on the surface of combustion of liquid combustibles and fire extinguishing by available fire extinguishing means, wherein after formation of heat-insulating layer additional fire-resistant heat-insulating coating is created on entire surface area of porous spherical granules outer surface, wherein said coating is formed by fast-hardening foam while vulcanised pumice is used as material to form porous spherical granules. Fire-resistant heat-insulating coating containing heat-insulating porous spherical granules arranged in the form of a layer on the burning surface, and a coating applied on the granules, wherein the granules are made from volcanic pumice, and coating is made of incombustible material, which is presented in form of fast-hardening foam, applied in creation of additional fire-resistant heat-insulating coating on outer surface of layer of porous spherical granules arranged on burning surface of liquid combustibles.;EFFECT: task of the proposed technical solution is creation of effective fire-resistant heat-insulating coating on the entire burning area of liquid combustibles, having high heat resistance and gas impermeability.;2 cl, 2 dwg
