FIELD: measuring equipment.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to industrial level gauges implementing emission of LFM signal into waveguide, modulated by symmetrical triangular law, obtaining difference frequency signal by conversion of reflected and emitted signals in mixer. Required range is calculated by processing the differential frequency signal in the time domain. Virtual signal is introduced, which differs from the real one in that its propagation speed is equal to νgr. Difference frequency signal for a virtual signal is calculated from the calculated range for the actual signal and based on the distance in the time domain is calculated. Virtual signal, as well as the real one, is free from the waveguide dispersion.;EFFECT: calculation of virtual signal range, which reduces frequency deviation by hundreds of MHz without increasing the measurement error.;1 cl, 5 dwg
