FIELD: electrical communication engineering.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication network and is intended to obtain information on characteristics of network connection for most efficient use of network resources. Method describes performance of checking throughput capacity of communication from the first network station (20) to the second network station (21) in a communication network. Such check of carrying capacity is based on so-called PRM model (probe rate model), in which a series of probing sampling packets are repeatedly transmitted from first station (20) to second station (21) with constant rate of packets in each iteration. However, the speed of the packets is adapted to the available bandwidth in the data pipeline in each iteration. According to the invention, the number of probing sample packets per a series of probing sampling packets varies along with the available throughput capacity in each iteration. This increases accuracy of checking, in particular, in range, where high speed of data transmission in data pipeline is available. Step decreasing factor (SDF) is also used, which improves efficiency check. Such step reduction factor depends on jitter in the network and additionally increases inspection efficiency.;EFFECT: technical result consists in optimization of method of active measurement of carrying capacity in a specific model of probing speed.;9 cl, 25 dwg
