METHOD OF DETECTING AND LOCALIZING TEXT FORMS ON IMAGES

FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of detecting text on halftone digital images and related methods of segmenting images based on presence of text. Method includes selecting adjacent frames of halftone images of a sequence of images, removing a constant component of image brightness of selected frames, double spatial horizontal differentiation, correlation processing of an image with a reference, calculation of threshold value, comparison of results of correlation processing with threshold and condition of detection of text forms determination of their parameters.;EFFECT: high accuracy of detecting text forms on images containing a composite background.;1 cl, 3 dwg
