Method for retrofitting a lightning protection device of a rotor blade (17) of a wind energy plant. In the method, a cable section (24) of a lightning protection cable (19) is stripped. A connector (25) and lightning protection receptor (33) are attached to the stripped cable section (24) so that the lightning protection receptor (33) is electrically coupled to the lightning protection cable (19). The invention also relates to a rotor blade (17) retrofitted with the method. With the invention, the risk of lightning strikes in certain areas of a rotor blade (17) can be reduced by retrofitting.
