The invention relates to a method for providing images of a stereo camera system comprising at least a first camera and a second camera, by which substantially the same surrounding area of the real environment of the stereo camera system is continuously recorded and in the form of first images of the first camera and second images the second camera is continuously reproduced, wherein for a respective first image and a second image temporally associated second image, a computational alignment operation is performed in which mutually corresponding pixels in the first and in the second image are assigned to each other, wherein the arithmetic alignment operation during operation the stereoscopic camera system under real-world conditions is performed in real time continuously for the first and second images, while the first and the second camera capture the real environment of the stereo camera system. The invention also relates to a device for the computer-controlled provision of images of the stereo camera system, which is set up to provide the images according to such a method. The invention also relates to a computer program for carrying out such a method.
