An ultrapolar electrosurgical cutting edge and ultrapolar electrosurgical pens. The ultrapolar electrosurgical blade has a non-conductive sheet with opposite planar sides, a cutting end and an opposite non-cutting end, a first active electrode and a first return electrode located on an opposite planar side, and a second active electrode and a second second return electrode located on the other opposite flat side. The ultrapolar non-telescopic and telescopic electrosurgical pens may be equipped with or without smoke evacuation and are capable of cutting with a sharp nonconductive cutting end of the ultrapolar electrosurgical cutting edge and upon activation of the active contacts and the return contacts, both on each side of the ultrapolar electrosurgical cutting edge are arranged to cut and coagulate.
