Technologies for processing network packets through a network interface controller (NIC) of a computing device include a network interface, a packet processor, and a controller device of the NIC, each communicatively coupled to a memory structure of the NIC. The packet processor is adapted to receive an event message from the memory structure and transmit a message to the controller device, the message indicating that the network packet has been received and comprises the memory structure location pointer. The controller device is adapted to retrieve at least a portion of the received network packet from the memory structure, to write an incoming descriptor usable by one or more on-chip cores of the NIC to perform an operation on the retrieved part, and the network packet in response to an outgoing descriptor written by the on-chip cores after performing the operation.
