A workpiece and a monitoring method for the water content of its lubricant, the monitoring method comprising: disposing a water content sensing unit (10) in the workpiece so as to be exposed to the lubricant in the workpiece, the water content sensing unit (10) communicating with a radio frequency tag (20) is in the same circuit (S1) and the electrical properties of the water content sensing unit (10) change with a change in the water content of the lubricant and the electrical characteristics include at least one of resistance, inductance and capacitance; determining a corresponding relationship (S2) between a frequency related parameter of the radio frequency label (20) and the water content of the lubricant; the detection of an actual frequency (S3) of the radio frequency tag (20); and determining an actual water content (S4) of the lubricant based on the corresponding relationship and the actual frequency. With the monitoring method for the water content of the lubricant of a workpiece, online monitoring of the water content of the lubricant in a bearing can be realized.
