Passive classification and localization of sound sources

This disclosure provides passive classification and location of sound sources. A method of processing audible sounds using ultrasonic sensors. This method involves the passive monitoring of an external environment for audible sounds via ultrasonic sensors. An audible sound can be detected and used to produce a sound signal. The audio signal may be filtered to determine one or more features that correspond to it, including a class, a position, and a tempo. The audio signal may be assigned a priority based on the audio signal to determine an appropriate response. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed and claimed herein.
