A robot 100 is provided with: a body 104; wheels (102, 103) each of which has a surface that touches the ground at the time of movement; and a wheel drive mechanism 370 which drives the wheels such that the wheels advance from a storage space S provided in the body 104 to the outside and retract from the outside into the storage space S. If a condition for storage is satisfied, the wheel drive mechanism 370 causes the wheels to retract into the storage space S while the wheels are off the ground. The body 104 has a ground-touching bottom surface that touches the ground when the wheels are stored in the storage space S while the wheels are off the ground.
