This cylinder block has formed therein a plurality of cylinder bores which open in a piston insertion side end surface, and is configured such that when caused to rotate, pistons inserted into each cylinder bore slide in a reciprocating manner, wherein the cylinder block is provided with a cooling unit, and the cooling unit has a plurality of cooling holes which are formed between adjacent cylinder bores and extend in the axial direction of the cylinder block from the piston insertion side end surface.
