A method (100) for transmitting a document (105) from a first party (P1) to a second party (P2) comprises the following steps: defining different sequences (125) of m intermediate nodes (A-G), each intermediate node (A-G) being an owner of a private cryptographic key to which a corresponding public cryptographic key is known; encrypting the document (105) sequentially with the public keys of the intermediate nodes (A-G) of a particular sequence (125); transmitting the document (125) to the owner of the public key with which the document (105) in question was last encrypted, and decrypting the document (105) using the private key of said owner; repeating the preceding step until all the intermediate nodes (A-G) of the particular sequence (125) have decrypted the document (105); and delivering the document (105) to the second party (P2).
