A liquid cathode cell comprising: a calcium anode; an electrolyte comprising a sulfur and/or phosphorus oxidizing solvent and at least one sa a cathode comprising a compound identical to the aforementioned oxidizing solvent as active material; characterized in that the cathode comprises a first zone consisting of a carbon matrix comprising entwined carbon fibers having a porosity of at least 90% and a specific surface area less than or equal to 5 m2/g, and comprising a second zone that is distinct from the first zone, wherein the second zone consists of a composite material comprising a binder and carbon black.
