This is system for heat recovery in thermal processes using sequential and reciprocating action of a set of packed beds with non-adsorbent materials (or in which the adsorption does not have a dominant effect). It can be used in multiple applications (drying, desalination, absorption cooling, generation of mechanical powers, etc.), which are different from each other but which share the same principle: applied or generated heat in a device (1) (which can also be a packed bed) is captured and recovered through packed beds which sequentially switch their roles: while one bed (2) collects the residual heat from the first device (1), the second (3) pre-heats the fluid which it delivers to the first device (or to another process) using residual heat which it had collected previously; and when the collector bed (2) reaches the highest set level, it uses coupled valves to switch roles with the pre-heating bed (3), and vice versa.
