A vision system (1) for a motor vehicle comprises at least one imaging device (4), a data processing device (7) adapted to determine an exposure setting (18) for said imaging device (4) on the basis of images (5) taken by said imaging device (4), and an imaging device controller (17) controlled by said data processing device (7) to update the imaging device (4) setting to the determined exposure setting (18). The data processing device (7) determines said exposure setting (18) for said imaging device (4) by applying a trained model (20) which has been trained to output a suited exposure setting (18) for a given input image (5) taken by said imaging device (4).
