A device for determining a consensus version of a transaction book of a distributed database system among a number of paths from chained blocks comprises: a first unit for obtaining a number of paths, each path comprising a number of chained blocks; a second unit for determining a block quality of the respective block of the respective path; a third unit for determining a path quality of the respective path depending on the block qualities of the number of chained blocks of the path, and a fourth unit for determining, from the number of paths, the path with the highest path quality and providing the determined path as the consensus version of the transaction book of the distributed database system. Accordingly, a pathway-based consensus rule can achieve stable transaction throughput and prevent misuse. Furthermore, a method for determining the consensus version and a device and a method for monitoring a distributed database system are proposed.
