PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce mechanical spalling such as cracking which occurs in magnesia carbon brick. SOLUTION: A magnesia fine powder having a relative particle amount (volume basis) of 90 μm or less in a particle size distribution measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method is 90% by mass or more is added to a mixture of a magnesia raw material and a carbon raw material, and fixed carbon is also added. Minor 25% by weight of organic binder is added. This gives creep resistance to the magnesia carbonaceous refractory and reduces mechanical spalling such as cracking. [Selection diagram] None
