To provide an article transfer method and an article transfer device that can accurately lift up and transfer an article.SOLUTION: In an ejection area R1, an article 5 placed on a placement part 11 is placed on a holding part 14 or pinched by a holding part 14 and the article 5 is held by the holding part 14. The article 5 held by the holding part 14 is moved from the ejection area R1 to a delivery area. A step in which the article 5 is held by the holding part 14 includes: a step in which the article 5 is moved upward in a height direction by negative pressure generated by a negative pressure generating part 13; a step in which the holding part 14 is arranged below the article 5 or the article 5 is pinched by the holding part 14 with the article 5 separated from the placement part 11; and a step in which generation of the negative pressure is stopped with the holding part 14 arranged below the article 5 or the article 5 pinched by the holding part 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
