To provide a broken bottle detection device and a broken bottle detection method capable of ensuring detection of a bottle broken after content inspection.SOLUTION: This broken bottle detection device is for detecting a bottle B broken after injection of a beer liquid B3 and content inspection, and comprises: an irradiation unit 23 that irradiates the bottle B with light C obliquely to the liquid surface B4 of the beer liquid B3 injected into the bottle B yet to be broken; and a detection unit 24 that detects the light C applied from the irradiation unit 23 and passed through the broken bottle B but not through the beer liquid B3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
