To effectively enhance mechanical strength of a molded body consisting of a composite material by enhancing adhesiveness of reinforced fibers and a matrix resin by a fiber reinforced resin composite material containing the reinforced fibers and the matrix.SOLUTION: A surface coated reinforced fiber is manufactured by directly coating at least a part of a surface of a reinforced fiber by a nanocellulose layer, which is a layer consisting of nanocellulose (NCe). NCe may be cellulose nanofiber (CeNF), and be modified by a functional group. The surface coated reinforced fiber can be manufactured by removing a dispersant after applying a dispersion in which NCe is dispersed in the dispersant to a surface of the reinforced fiber. The invention also relates to an intermediate substrate containing the surface coated reinforced fibers and the matrix resin, a composite material, and a molded body containing the composite material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
