PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roasting apparatus for a waste lithium ion battery capable of improving the efficiency of heat treatment and improving the recovery rate of useful metals. SOLUTION: A waste lithium ion battery received from a reception port 41a is discharged from a cylinder 41 having a receiving port 41a at one end, a discharging port 41b at the other end, and a reducing atmosphere or a low oxygen atmosphere inside. A transport mechanism 4 that transports the inside of the cylinder 41 toward 41b and discharges it from the discharge port 41b, and a waste lithium-ion battery by the transport mechanism 4 that heats the outer wall of the cylinder 41 in order to raise the internal temperature of the cylinder 41. The heating mechanism 5 is configured so that the heating temperature of the outer wall at different positions in the transport direction can be individually controlled, and the temperature rise rate of the waste lithium ion battery transported in the cylinder becomes a predetermined temperature rise rate. A controller 21 for controlling the heating temperature of the outer wall by the heating mechanism 5 according to the transport speed of the waste lithium ion battery by the transport mechanism 4 is provided.
