To provide a method for avoiding defective cloth and article.SOLUTION: A needle selection device with a detection system includes: a controller; a plurality of needle selection machines; a transmission line; and a loom. The plurality of needle selection machines are electromagnetic needle selection machines. In each of the plurality of needle selection machines, at least one detector is arranged and the detector is used to detect an abnormal signal. The controller transmits signals to the plurality of needle selection machines through the transmission line, thereby changing needle selection states in the plurality of needle selection machines. The abnormal signal is transmitted to the controller through the transmission line using the abnormal signal by the needle selection machines detected by the detector, thereby transmitting a shutdown signal to the loom and shutting down the loom. Therefore, when an abnormal state occurs in the needle selection machines, defective cloth and article can be avoided by the shutdown signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
