To provide a monitoring device, an antenna site, a relay station, an IFoF transmission system and a monitoring method for monitoring the IFoF transmission system collectively by the monitoring device provided on the base station side.SOLUTION: A monitoring device applied to an IFoF (IF-over Fiber) transmission system performing optical fiber transmission of radio waves emitted from an antenna as IF (Intermediate Frequency) signals comprises: a signal generating section placing a monitoring signal, for each antenna site, in a downlink IF signal train transmitted from a base station to one or more antenna sites; a signal detector for detecting a folding signal generated based on the monitoring signal, in a relay station for relaying optical fiber transmission of the base station and the antenna site or at the antenna site, and placed in an uplink IF signal train transmitted from the relay station or the antenna sire to the base station; and a monitoring control section for monitoring the IFoF transmission system on the basis of the monitoring signal or the folding signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
