The present invention relates to the retention of mechanical properties in high-strength steel at reduced thicknesses, and mechanical property performance is also retained at relatively high strain rates. These new steels may offer advantages for a number of applications where reduced sheet thickness is desired. In addition, the alloys herein retain useful mechanical properties after the introduction of geometric discontinuities and associated stress concentrations.
