To provide a machine element capable of adjusting a functional expression mode due to the sustained release of a functional compound.SOLUTION: A slide bearing member 10 (sustained release mechanical element) is displaceable with respect to a shaft member 20 (the other mechanical element) in a state where it continuously or intermittently contacts with an outside surface 212 (second predetermined place) of the shaft member 20 on an inside surface 111 (first predetermined place). At least a part of the inside surface 111 of the slide bearing member 10 is constituted by the inside surface of a sustained release member 12 made of a sustained release member for gradually releasing a functional compound.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
