To provide photoreceptors and photoreceptor progenitors generated from pluripotent stem cells.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method comprising: (a) culturing a pluripotent stem cell in the presence of a BMP signaling inhibitor to produce an eye field progenitor cell; (b) culturing the eye field progenitor cell in a neural differentiation medium in the absence of the BMP signaling inhibitor under low adherent or non-adherent conditions to form cell spheres; (c) culturing the cell spheres in a neural differentiation medium in the absence of the BMP signaling inhibitor under adherent conditions to form adhered cells; (d) dissociating the adhered cells and culturing the cells in a neural differentiation medium in the absence of the BMP signaling inhibitor under low adherent or non-adherent conditions to form cell spheres; (e) culturing the cell spheres in a neural differentiation medium in the absence of the BMP signaling inhibitor under adherent conditions to form adhered cells.SELECTED DRAWING: None
