Provided herein is a dual riser fluid catalytic cracking process for producing light olefins from an oxygenate feed (such as a methanol feed) in a conventional FCC unit. In a particular embodiment, the process comprises: a first catalyst comprising a first catalyst at a first riser condition to form a first effluent rich in olefins, light gas oils, gasoline or combinations thereof. Cracking a hydrocarbon feed in a riser, cracking a hydrocarbon oxygenate feed in a second riser that includes a second catalyst at second riser conditions to form a second effluent rich in olefins In a common reactor, recovering the first catalyst and the second catalyst from the first effluent and the second effluent, in a regenerator using heat from the exothermic decomposition of the hydrocarbon oxygenate feed. Regenerating the recovered first and second catalysts, and recycling the regenerated first and second catalysts to the first and second risers. [Selection diagram] Figure 1
