PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool wear prediction device and its method in which a wear amount of a tool can be estimated simply with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A tool wear prediction device is provided for predicting a wear amount of a tool installed in a machine tool. The tool wear prediction device includes: a tool wear amount prediction unit for calculating the predictive tool wear amount of the tool based on input machining data; and a tool wear amount correction processing unit for comparing a value based on the machining data with a value based on data acquired from the machine tool and correcting the predictive tool wear amount based on a comparison result. The tool wear prediction device includes: an NC simulation unit for calculating sequential processing pattern data and the predictive tool wear amount in conjunction with an NC program; real cutting time acquisition means in conjunction with equipment status; wear amount calculation means for calculating a tool wear amount from the real cutting time acquired; wear amount correction means for correcting the predictive tool wear amount; and a tool replacement determination unit for determining tool replacement timing based on the tool wear amount corrected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
