The problem addressed by the present invention is to provide an adsorption/desorption method highly efficient for adsorption and desorption in a liquid phase and an adsorption/desorption device for implementing that method. This adsorption/desorption method includes: a step in which, with respect to a container that accommodates a granular adsorbent in a flowable state and that is such that at least the bottom part has a portion wherein the cross-sectional area of the inside cavity gradually becomes larger from bottom to top, a liquid containing a substance to be adsorbed is supplied to the bottom part of the container and flows upward in the container cavity, causing at least a portion of the granular adsorbent to flow while the substance to be adsorbed is being adsorbed on the granular adsorbent; a step for stopping the supply of the liquid containing the substance to be adsorbed, then discharging the liquid retained in the container cavity from the bottom part of the container; a step for supplying a liquid for desorbing the adsorbed substance from the granular adsorbent so that the adsorbed substance is desorbed from the granular adsorbent; and a step for stopping the supply of liquid for desorbing the adsorbed substance from the granular adsorbent, then discharging the liquid retained in the container cavity from the bottom part of the container.
