To provide an inspection apparatus with an attitude determination function capable of improving inspection precision by easily and reliably acquiring propriety of attitude of the inspection apparatus, and attitude determination method of the inspection apparatus.SOLUTION: The inspection apparatus targetting steam traps provided everywhere in a piping system incorporates a triaxial acceleration sensor for outputting inclination data, and, through FFT processing of the inclination data, acquires FFT waveform (Fig. 7) of inclination of attitude of the inspection apparatus within a prescribed time. The inspection apparatus calculates a difference value Yd between a maximum value Y2 and a minimum value Y1 and determines whether or not the difference value Yd is smaller than a difference reference value D. Here, the difference reference value D is selected from any of difference reference values "D1", "D2", and "D3" corresponding to degrees of importance of the steam traps. This inspection apparatus can thus perform attitude determination by applying an acceptable range according to the degrees of importance of the steam traps thereto.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
