PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve expansion of application range of a composite iron oxide thin film having a first iron oxide layer constituted by a magnetite crystal phase and a second iron oxide layer constituted by a hematite crystal layer as a surface layer constituting a hetero structure with the first iron oxide.;SOLUTION: A composite iron oxide thin film for pn-junction element or for photocatalystic active material has a first iron oxide layer X1 and a second iron oxide layer X2 as a surface layer constituting a hetero structure with the first iron oxide layer X1. The first iron oxide layer X1 is represented by L1-x-yFexOy, wherein 0.90≤x+y1.0, 0.27≤x≤0.67, 0.37≤y≤0.67, L is one or more kind of element selected from a group consisting of Ge, Mo, W and Mg, and constituted by a magnetite crystal phase or a maghemite crystal phase. The second iron oxide layer X2 is represented by L1-u-vFexOy, wherein 0.99≤u+v≤1.0, 0.39≤u≤0.41, and 0.59≤v≤0.61, and constituted by a hematite crystal phase.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2020,JPO&INPIT
