Imaging devices on mobile platforms use compression of the target area to generate an image of an object. The tactile sensor has an optical fiber optic with a flexible transparent first layer. Light is directed at the waveguide. When the first layer is deformed, light is scattered from the first layer. The first layer is deformed when the tactile sensor is pressed against the object. The force sensor detects the force pressing the tactile sensor against the object and outputs the corresponding force information. The first communication unit receives force information from the force sensor. The container holds a mobile device with a second communication unit and an imager capable of generating image information using the light scattered from the first layer. The first communication unit communicates with the second communication unit, and the mobile device communicates with the external network.
