摘要

To provide an electron donor generated from metal sodium, which can be alternative of a solvent such as conventional ammonia, and further an effective 4,4'-bipyridine synthesis method by a coupling reaction using the electron donor.SOLUTION: There is provided an electron donor containing an electron solvated in DMI by mixing a metal sodium dispersion dispersed in paraffin oil or the like, and 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone (DMI). There is further provided an effective synthesis method of 4,4'-bipyridine by reacting the electron donor and bipyridine.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
