PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bipolar ion generator used for air cleaning and a circular diffuser using the bipolar ion generator. The present invention relates to an ion generator, and more particularly to an alternating bipolar ion generator used for air cleaning. The ion generator has a plate-like structure in which a substrate with a heat conductive sheet, a porous emitter electrode plate, a dielectric barrier, and a porous ground electrode plate provided with an ion extraction mechanism are sequentially laminated. Using the above described technical solution, the ground electrode plate and emitter electrode plate with ion extraction structure constitute an electric field with precise dimensions, and on one side of the electric field ground, the electrons of the emitter electrode plate are drawn out to the dielectric barrier Some of the electrons come into contact with the ground plate and flow into the ground plate to form a current, and some of the electrons leave the dielectric surface and come into contact with the air molecules in the room.
