To provide a muffler chamber suitable for satisfying required muffling performance easily and reliably.SOLUTION: In a muffler chamber design method, an air inflow port 7 and an air outflow port 8 are formed on a chamber outer wall; a single or a plurality of partition walls 9 for muffling are installed in the inside of a chamber surrounded by the chamber outer wall; the inside of the chamber is partitioned into a plurality of regions Z1 and Z2 by the single or the plurality of partition walls 9; a communication port 10 that communicates the adjacent regions Z1 and Z2 with each other is formed on the partition walls 9; and the plurality of regions Z1 and Z2 are communicated with each other in series between the air inflow port 7 and the air outflow port 8 through the communication port 10 formed on the partition walls 9. When the position of the communication port 10 changes to a different position in a wall surface direction of the partition walls 9, respective muffling characteristics are analyzed; and on the basis of a result of the analysis, the position of the communication port 10 in the wall surface direction of the partition walls 9 is selected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
