Silicone oil-in-water compositions useful as injectable fillers and as scaffolds for collagen growth

The present invention relates to an oil-in-water dispersion liquid composition comprising a silicone oil having an average droplet diameter of about 2000 μm or less and a polymeric thickener. The compositions are useful for stimulating collagen production in human patients and other mammals, and have soft tissue augmentation applications for various medical and cosmetic procedures. The present invention also relates to a method for producing the composition and a method for stimulating collagen production in human patients and other mammals in need thereof. Unlike the prior art, the compositions and methods of the present invention are particularly useful for stimulating the production of high quality collagen that is uniform, smooth, durable, and has good structural integrity.
