Dual energy microfocus X-ray imaging system and method for inspection of chicken and meat

The description herein generally relates to food processing technology, slaughter technology, radiation imaging technology, food safety technology, and the like. Systems and methods for foreign object detection in slaughter are provided. The system and method combine a microfocus X-ray tube and dual energy X-rays to detect foreign objects in meat products. Dual energy imaging algorithms analyze the dual energy x-rays passed through the meat product and identify foreign substances present therein. An alarm or other notification is then generated in response to the foreign object detection.
