PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buckle which is excellent in safety and has a simple structure and good operability. A tongue plate (2) is provided with a cut (4) and a pair of engaging projections (5), and a main body (1) is provided with a tongue plate insertion port (11) and a tongue plate insertion path communicating with this. The tongue plate insertion path is provided with a guide hole that can be fitted into the tip portion 2c of the tongue plate, and the guide hole is provided with a fixing pin 9a that can enter into the notch of the tongue plate. A pair of latch plates 14 are rotatably provided on both sides of the tongue plate insertion port of the main body, and an operating portion 16 and an engaging claw are provided on the latch plates. The latch plate has an engaging position where the operating portion abuts on the end edge of the tongue plate insertion port and an engaging claw engages with the engaging protrusion of the tongue plate, and the operating portion is separated from the end edge and is engaged. The engaging claw can be rotated between the retracted position and the engaging projection. The latch plate is constantly urged by the spring toward the engagement position.
