To provide a method for measuring a moisture content of a horny layer with terahertz waves.SOLUTION: A method for measuring a moisture content of a horny layer has a step of bringing a prism surface as a terahertz wave emission surface into contact with a skin surface, irradiating it with terahertz waves with a frequency of 0.1 THz or more and 3.0 THz or less, to determine an absorption coefficient. In the method, a prism with a refractive index of 2.0 or more, preferably 2.5 or more, and more desirably 3.0 or more, is used.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
