PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspended particulate matter measuring apparatus capable of measuring the amount of at least organic carbon in particulate matters suspended in the air.SOLUTION: A suspended particulate matter measuring apparatus 1 alternately irradiates suspended particulate matters collected on a collecting filter 4 continuously fed with a light beam having a wavelength within a first wavelength band and a light beam having a wavelength within a second wavelength band emitted from a light source 6, a first operation part 111 calculates the amounts of elemental carbon and organic carbon in the suspended particulate matters on the basis of the intensity of a light beam transmitted through the suspended particulate matters on the collecting filter 4, the intensity being detected by a transmitted-light detector 8, and a second operation part 112 calculates the amounts of elemental carbon and organic carbon in the suspended particulate matters on the basis of the intensity of a light beam reflected from the suspended particulate matters on the collecting filter 4, the intensity being detected by a reflected-light detector 9.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
